Relax and Enjoy
Escamps is a tiny village with a Romanesque church circa 800, just 14 kms from the impressive gothic cathedral town of Auxerre on the river Yonne and 25kms from the wineries of Chablis and Irancy.
The house has two bedrooms, one with queen sized bed and the other 2 singles that can be made up as a second queen. There is also a sofa bed in the lounge room for a 3rd child or friends dropping by.
The cottage itself is 400-500 years old. We believe it may have belonged to a religious order since renovations revealed a tiny habited face on the outside wall. The home is well equipped, warm, comfortable and delightfully decorated in the classic French provincial style.
The garden is fully fenced in and secure so parents can feel relaxed while children play!
Information is provided for short trips to neighbouring market towns, wineries, restaurants, important religious sites and historic attractions as well as day trips inviting you to explore villages, caves and castles further afield.
Interior design and fabrics for Desjardins Cottage by Sophie Seeger
Sophie Seeger is a decorating, property styling and art sourcing consultant
As well as being a consultant, she is passionate about marrying art and design. She paints commissions for residential and commercial clients; has curated and developed 2 Indigenous rug ranges, and has designed fabrics on sustainable base cloths.
Sophie’s designs are hand printed on sustainable fabrics like hemp and organic cotton blends – she enjoys the handmade processes on natural fibres. “Hemp is an amazing fibre, offering superior insulation qualities, it is non-allergenic so great for allergy sufferers and perfect for bedrooms; and it drapes beautifully. It looks like linen but without the price tag, lasts longer, and is environmentally friendly.”/
Sophie sells the base cloths in a neutral range – from off-white, stone, chocolate, charcoal to black. The base cloths are in 2 different weights – covering all soft-furnishings to commercial upholstery.
The latest prints can be used as accents with the base cloths – used as lampshades, cushions or throws over the back of plain upholstered pieces – or in blinds and curtains. Sophie’s textiles have featured at DesignEx and Interwoven – the Design Institute of Australia’s annual textile show.
Sophie can develop textile designs and paint small and large art commissions to complement the schematic design of a residential or commercial project – from colour, texture to tone. For further information contact Sophie on 0412 445 660 or firstname.lastname@example.org
For this project Sophie was shown images of the cottage, the floorplan; and asked to recommend a colour scheme, fabrics and she sourced some of the artwork. Sophie can work remotely from photographs.
